Who delivers it?

A wide range of agencies and voluntary youth groups deliver Tier 2 brief drug and alcohol interventions. These tend to be young people focused with some drug and alcohol experience and specialist knowledge of working with young people. This includes for example youth workers, counsellors, student support in schools and colleges, school nurses and supported housing workers. There is also some specific options for young people such as Targeted Youth Support Service and the Further Education Colleges in Somerset.

Targeted Youth Support Service (TYSS)

TYSS works with young people aged 13 -19 years old, where drug and alcohol problems are beginning to impact on young people’s lives (e.g. poor school attendance, lack of motivation linked to alcohol or drug use, increasingly risky behaviours).

TYS are a county wide service working from various local area bases.  There is a central phone number and email address if you and/or a young person wants to contact them for help and support to address alcohol or drug use.

Phone: 01458 440 820 - when the phone is answered they will say 'Young People Somerset'.
